Got this rod last year from my local fly shop black dog outdoors. I could not be more thrilled with this rod. Went to the salmon river last weekend and landed 8 fish in 2 days 1 of whichwas 35 pounds and fought a ton more. I noticed other fly fishermen losing fish very quickly or not hooking up at all. I genuinely believe it's because how perfectly balanced this rod is. Soft enough to give some slack when the fish runs but strong enough to handle the fish itself. I just bought the 5 wt but I think I might go Douglas for all my fly rods. Lastly my brother has this rod in the 8wt as well. We were getting some practice casting in when he broke one section. He called and had a new piece of the rod in 4 days. Great customer service great quality and great value Douglas is a no brainer

After reading the glowing reviews on this rod I thought I’d take a chance and order one. The reviews were spot on. It’s a sweet casting, light and sensitive rod that feels alive in the hand. The matte grey blank is good looking and won’t spook fish like other shiny rods. The blank loads down into the butt and it feels a lot like my favorite glass rod but quicker and lighter. Amazing that these rods are so affordable.

Picked this rod up about a month ago and have been very happy with it, the rod put the others in its price range to shame in feel, sensitivity, and looks. I have the rod paired with a Lamson Guru reel and the entire setup is as light if not lighter than my 3wt Euro rig. I've only had a chance to use it on the smaller rivers and streams in the Adirondacks and Syracuse area but I am very much looking forward to using this setup on giant Finger Lakes trout and out in Montana.

Picked up this rod for $149 and after spending the day with it, it has easily moved to my favorite river rod for the waters I fish. The action feels smooth and loads nicely. I am a first year fly fisherman but the accuracy of this rod for me in the 20-40' range was exceptional. A very quality built rod and light weight with the basic performance needed to build confidence without spending a fortune. Great value paired with a great warranty at a superb price point.

For $149, the Douglas ERA fly rod is one of the best values on the market. It’s a pleasant rod to cast, it handles small tippets and flies well, it’s versatile, and it’s not as heavy as other entry-level rods. Pair this with the usual Douglas build quality and you have a rod that’s great for someone just starting in the sport, or the angler looking for a rod that’ll stand up to abuse in the backcountry.

For $169, the ERA is a budget rod you won't necessarily outgrow - it's fun enough to want to keep fishing, no matter the skill or circumstances. It has a nice look, and a nice feel. It weighs four ounces. The components are all nice - nothing super fancy but nothing chintzy. Most important, the action is a very fair, timing-friendly "medium-well" that generates line speed and turns over leaders with an honest stroke. Comes with a tube and lifetime warranty.
