Picked this rod up about a month ago and have been very happy with it, the rod put the others in its price range to shame in feel, sensitivity, and looks. I have the rod paired with a Lamson Guru reel and the entire setup is as light if not lighter than my 3wt Euro rig. I've only had a chance to use it on the smaller rivers and streams in the Adirondacks and Syracuse area but I am very much looking forward to using this setup on giant Finger Lakes trout and out in Montana.

Picked up this rod for $149 and after spending the day with it, it has easily moved to my favorite river rod for the waters I fish. The action feels smooth and loads nicely. I am a first year fly fisherman but the accuracy of this rod for me in the 20-40' range was exceptional. A very quality built rod and light weight with the basic performance needed to build confidence without spending a fortune. Great value paired with a great warranty at a superb price point.

For $149, the Douglas ERA fly rod is one of the best values on the market. It’s a pleasant rod to cast, it handles small tippets and flies well, it’s versatile, and it’s not as heavy as other entry-level rods. Pair this with the usual Douglas build quality and you have a rod that’s great for someone just starting in the sport, or the angler looking for a rod that’ll stand up to abuse in the backcountry.

For $169, the ERA is a budget rod you won't necessarily outgrow - it's fun enough to want to keep fishing, no matter the skill or circumstances. It has a nice look, and a nice feel. It weighs four ounces. The components are all nice - nothing super fancy but nothing chintzy. Most important, the action is a very fair, timing-friendly "medium-well" that generates line speed and turns over leaders with an honest stroke. Comes with a tube and lifetime warranty.
