Raised in the Pulaski area, Rick acquired a passion for fishing at the young age of 5 while out with his father Dale. Dale’s love for the outdoors was passed to his son Rick, making him a sponge for all the knowledge to be passed down from father to son. Rick had the ability to spend many of his days along the river as a child while his father ran various fish cleaning stations including the one on the DSR. Since Rick was a constant presence his willingness to learn and help drag a few salmon up the many stairs of the DSR making him a favorite of the regulars and guides alike. By the age of 10 rick decided he wanted to become a fishing guide and at the age of 12 he found fly fishing. Once introduced to fly fishing, it quickly became a passion verging on an obsession.
