Reviews
SkyG 9’ 11wt.
“I took two 11wt. Douglas rods to the Seychelles but was a little nervous as everyone else on the trip carried 12 wt. rods. I got really concerned when the 12 wt rods were breaking on GT’s. However, I landed a 40” 55 lb GT with my Douglas just fine! If that’s not proof Douglas makes a great rod …….!”

Sky G 8 weight
“I was at a fly show, and spotted a recent acquaintance from a travel bureau at the casting pond flailing. He was trying to teach himself to cast. Offered to give him a few tips and tricks, and within minutes he was doing some nice casts. He asked me to show him how to use his left hand and handed me his rod. I sent out a short cast and it felt amazing. I thought I was throwing a 6 weight. I thought this rod is super in close, but does it have power? I then sent a cast into the kid's section past the edge of the pond. Only then did I look at the rod- a Sky G 8 weight. Picked one up and it was spectacular in the Bahamas. It even got the largest bonefish of the trip out of the mangroves and away from a Lemon Shark, so it has some serious durabily. It has become my fav saltwater rod and my other high end rods from famous makers have been retired, gifted, or relegated to back upz.”

Douglas Sky Rod: 9ft #6 SKY 6904
“I have owned my Douglas SKY #6 weight since early 2019. I live in northern Sweden and use this rod all the time. From beginning of March - late November and it has seen hundreds of fishing trips. This truly is an exceptional rod, able to cast streamers, nymphs and dry flies effortlessly. It can handle all types of lines including sinklines, which can sometimes be too heavy and sluggish for other rods. In 2019 my friend broke my rod by accidentally stepping on it. Douglas Customer service immediately sent me an extra rod tip which is in itself, absolutely amazing. Many other manufacturers of rods actually refuse to do this, so that makes Douglas not only the best Rod, but also the best customer service. 10/10 Douglas, Excellent work!”

SKY G 6904
“I have owned the fantastic 6 weight Sky G for 3 years now. It's my most used rod and I highly recommend it. It can handle multiple lines. From trout lines to oversized streamer lines this rod is a pleasure to cast. Even more impressive is the Douglas customer service. When I broke my rod with a boat oar Douglas had a new section delivered in just 3 days and I am back in business! Great Job Douglas!”

SKY G 9' 5wt
“I was keen to test the Douglas Sky G 5wt ever since it won the Yellowstone Angler 5wt shootout in 2020. I could only test this rod in 2022 when Flyshop NZ became the first New Zealand importer of Douglas fly rods. I fished the Sky G 5wt for three months over the summer of 2022/23 and this review is based on my experience with this excellent fly rod. https://silverwaterfly.fishing/reviews/douglas-sky-G-5wt-rod-review.html”
